Hello Friend,

Thank you for stopping in! My name is Amber Curbow and I would love to admit that I had to learn to be spontaneous, how to adapt to a whole new city and how to love who I've become in the process ;)

I generally connect with people over travel, music and coffee. Many friends would say I don't have the same conversation twice and I love to hear what matters to people. If it's close to your heart I want to dive in. This makes small talk meaningful and honest. I can bring a good story to the table or share a favorite quote but to really know me you'll understand my innate desire to understand.  This guiding principal has lead me to study temperament, history, chemistry, spirituality and much more.

I am a Las Vegas Native. We're not that rare, just growing up in big city makes you realize how small it really is. I appreciate what growing up in Vegas has allowed me to do and see. Those deep roots aren't easily broken so I bring this city heart where ever I go.

My Hair Story

I attended a Vocational High School and was enrolled in the Cosmetology Program at 15. I graduated with the ability to get my Nevada State Cosmetology License at 17 but had to wait till I was 18 to finish all my testing. Although it's one of the best things I've ever done, starting in the beauty business so young had it's challenges.

I've been known to sling coffee as a barista, be an art instructor for the Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas, work retail and be a hairdresser. I've worked on the famous Las Vegas Blvd. doing hair in the hotel circuit. I've styled enough bridal hair for a life time but I've also been extremely fortunate to work in the first Ouidad Certified Salon in Las Vegas and the entire state but also apprentice the first Ouidad Certified Stylist as well. I become her second hand in a lot of ways and we still work closely with curls to this day.

It's been almost 20 years cutting hair with wave, curl and texture. The last decade I've dedicated solely to cutting and coloring curly hair. I've deep dived into the why's and it's my pleasure to show you the how's. It's time to bring the simplicity back into our life with balance, confidence + joy.

and now...

I've had my own journey of freeing myself from conventional beauty standards, I’m living my best hair life. Taking my seemingly lifeless waves and allowing them to reach their full curl potential.

Truly understanding how to cut curly hair from a technical standpoint is important, but cutting hair is more than technical theory. I am truly designing the lines and shapes that take up space to give them purpose. Since I am cutting with intention, your haircut can last longer and flourish with your lifestyle. Helping you cultivate your curls is part of the experience at my hair studio and the common reaction usually sounds like “I can’t believe these are my curls!!” (Followed by tons of hair touching and amazement:)

Outside of the salon I volunteer, fuel my spiritual need + grow in creativity. I often explore North Idaho with my father learning about his childhood. I love to walk along the same paths as my grandparents and feel I’m able to honor them by serving their community now.
